Heat Pump Repairs

Heat Pump Repairs photoYour heating is one of the most important parts of your home: it’s largely responsible for the comfort and the security that you and your family depend on from your home. During the winter months, going without heating in your St. Louis home is more than just an inconvenience, and often it’s a safety concern. If you’re using a heat pump as your main heat source, or to supplement another heat source, any heat pump repairs need to be handled quickly and professionally, and that’s where the professionals at Rivers Plumbing Heating & Cooling come in.

Heat pumps can be used to heat your home, and they can also remove heat from your home during the summer months. So heat pumps need to be in excellent condition throughout the year, and they can always help your HVAC system be more efficient. If you’ve noticed that your heat pump isn’t functioning as well as it should, our professional heating contractors can help.

    Heat Pump Efficiency

Heat pumps are one of the most efficient forms of heating, but that unfortunately comes with one small catch: heat pumps start to lose efficiency and effectiveness once the temperature outdoors drops below 45°.

Any problems with your pump should be taken care of as soon as possible once they develop. Otherwise, the energy efficiency of your heat pump can rapidly decline, and you’ll need to have much more expensive and complicated repairs down the line.

Heat pumps only use a small percentage of their energy source (e.g., gas) to create heat. Most the heat that a heat pump “produces” is found externally, in the outside ground and air, then pumped into the colder parts of your home. This means that heat pumps use less energy than other forms of heating, but it also means that when the weather is below 45°, it has more difficulty extracting warmth from outdoors.

For this reason, heat pumps are typically used as supplementary heat sources, and they can do a great job of increasing the efficiency of another heating unit.

However, regardless of outdoor temperatures, if your heat pump needs any repairs, it will run less efficiently, and it will be less effective—both of which mean that you’ll be paying more for energy costs, and that you’ll have a less comfortable St. Louis home.

    Heat Pump Inspections

Any problems with your pump should be taken care of as soon as possible once they develop. Otherwise, the energy efficiency of your heat pump can rapidly decline, and you’ll need to have much more expensive and complicated repairs down the line. If you’re using a supplemental heat source in your St. Louis home, however, it may be difficult to tell which unit is malfunctioning.

Our professionals can inspect your heating system thoroughly and help you determine where the problems are stemming from and the best way to move forward.
